Primrose is a precious 9 year old blenheim lady. We rescued her from the puppy mill industry at an auction. Nine long years in the puppy mill industry has taken its toll on sweet Prim and she has come a looooong way in foster care.  She was treated for giardia, ear and urinary tract infections. Prim has recovered well from her spay, dental, and hernia repair surgery. She is loving her new life and has learned to accept affection and enjoys the company of her furry foster siblings. This is a sweet and precious girl who will bring so much joy to her new family.

Please check this page often to keep up with the angels in our program. We introduce them here and share their stories as we search for the perfect forever homes for each and every one. Our process is thorough, and while we do not place dogs on a first-come, first-served basis, we DO review applications chronologically to find that perfect match.
If you are on a specific timeline to bring a precious Cavalier into your family, then rescue may not be the right fit for you. We are happy to refer you to responsible, reputable, and health-focused breeders.

Bailey is a darling girl who was suffering from some serious grooming and basic care neglect, and some medical issues when she came in.  She has been treated  for dry eye and is now producing normal tears. The drops she is on will need to continue once a day indefintely. Because that had not been treated appropriately in the past, she had bad eye infections and some corneal scarring. Her skin infections are imroving and testing has revealed a need to change the medicine for treatment so we  have done so. Her luxating patella is not an issue for her and does not slow her down a bit. Her beautiful coat is already growing in from being shaved on intake. She is blooming in foster care, loving attention, her walks, has trimmed way down and is simply enjoying life!

At Cavalier Rescue of Alabama, we work to ensure our dogs and families are well matched. That is why we use  a specific and thorough process for matching our rescues with families . It is in the best interest of the dog and the adopting family.

The Adoption Application is required to be considered for adoption.  You only need to apply once, not per dog. Additionally, we do recommend that you contact us via email (not text or facebook messages) after you submit an application to express your interest and to include photos of your home and family and anything else that would provide us insight to help us to best match a dog with your family.  The adopting family MUST be willing and able to travel to the foster home.  Please understand we "work for the dogs" and  making  great matches is paramount.

 About the Adoption Process:

This sweet Mom came to us with day-old puppies and almost no milk. After having a litter of six, only two pups survived. After receiving fluids and being bottle fed around the clock, the puppies, Benny and Joon, are responding, gaining weight and strength. Lorelai was severely dehydrated and suffering from eye and ear infections, and a significant mumur was present. At her recheck, and physically improved from fluids, medications, a great diet, and a lot of TLC, the murmur ws no longer detected! She is thriving in foster care and while she cannot produce any milk, she is a wonderful mother to her precious babies in every other way. She is learning what love is and to trust her foster family.

Yahtzee! is and adorble, sweet, and laid back puppy. He checked out overall heathy on intake but, while enjoying a few days in foster care pending his neuter surgery, we noticed he was consistently regurgitating. Yahtzee underwent further testing to determine the cause of this and the results for mega esophagus, pancreatitis and a hiatel hernia were all negative!  What was determined is that he  has Gastroesophageal Reflux, which is the same type of 'acid reflux' that some of us humans may sometimes experience.

Yahtzee has started on a medication called Reglan/ Metoclopramide which helps to prevent that back flow and has already proved to be effective for Yahtzee! We have noticed that the regurgitation most occurs when he is excited or stressed and so this will not likely be a daily medication but one that will be used on an 'as needed' basis. We are thankful this can be so well managed and not something more serious! Yahtzee has been cleared for his neuter surgery and dental cleaning for Friday!

These silly twins have been adopted! We are delighted to keep them together and they will be providing endless kisses to their new family.

Simon's is a breeder retiree and we have been entrusted to find his perfect  "retirement" home. He is a very sweet, but a bit timid initially, however he warms up and settles into a lap just as happy as he can be! On intake we found some old corneal scarring which requires no treatment, as well as  grade 4+ dental disease. His heart , knees and hips all checked out great!! Since his lab work looked good,  he underwent his neuter and MUCH needed dental resulting in 10 extractions. Simon is up-to-date on vaccinations and preventives.

Sweet Simon is now in his foster home resting and recovering with his special Jakey Blankey and getting some much needed TLC
